DONOVAN & ASSOCIATES is a consulting firm that specialises in matters relating to aspects of historical research, writing and historic conservation and is able to undertake a wide variety of tasks based upon these specialties. These may range from commissioned histories to celebrate achievements, to research required for promotion, policy formulation or litigation support. Major projects successfully completed by the firm have included large commissioned histories and heritage studies, while others have been concerned with the recording of oral data and providing advice on the management of history collections.
What we have heard and known for ourselves, and what our ancestors have told us, Must not be withheld from their descendants, but be handed on by us to the next generation.
The firm was established in 1980, thereby formalising an arrangement that had already existed for several years. Since that time it has undertaken work for clients throughout southern Australia on projects that have involved research and work in all parts of the country and in places overseas, as projects have required.
The principals of DONOVAN & ASSOCIATES belong to appropriate professional bodies. Peter Donovan, the Managing Partner, was the founding president of the Professional Historians Association (SA) and one of the prime movers in the development of the Australian Council of Professional Historians Associations Inc. He belongs to other relevant professional bodies such as Australia ICOMOS, the (American) National Council of Public History, and the Oral History Association of Australia (SA Branch). June Donovan was appointed an inaugural member of the South Australian State Records Council.
The firm is delighted with recognition that its work has received, primarily because it demonstrates that DONOVAN & ASSOCIATES continues to provide high quality service to its clients.
